Elegy [2008]

A beautiful, well-laid out movie. The cast, characters, acting and the plot was well meshed that i enjoyed the whole film whole-heartedly. It started out as an erotica, but it simmered down to the plot half-way through. Maybe its because Penelope Cruz is such a stunner and her accent is beautiful, to boot! I'm actually trying to learn Spanish after seeing Vicky Cristina Barcelona (another one of her films, which i've yet to make a review of.)

So, back to Elegy, it's mainly a story about a famous professor who falls in love with a young student who invigorates and brings his manhood back to life. It's that feeling you get when you feel in love and jealous and possessive, all at once.

"The fact that you're jealous and possessive doesn't help me, at all. Even little kids are jealous of their toys until they get tired of them.and want new ones. So...is that how it's going to be between us two?" --Consuelo (Penelope Cruz)

The beautiful part of this all is that she falls in love with him too and that's what makes it all the more beautiful and heart-warming to the viewers. Or maybe it's because i'm going through the same phase? Hahaha. This movie is definitely worth watching.

The plot and the characters make it all the more interesting. :) take time to watch it. Keep the crowd PG 18. for mature audiences only. *smirk*
This is sort of an artsy film, and yes, I would categorize it that way.

Battle Royale [2000]

Featuring a cast of good-looking Japanese actors, this morbid film is actually a very interesting one. The plot is unusually weird and grisly, but the acting and effects were rather good. If you don't like a movie that screams 'bloody murder' at every turn, i suggest you put this film down and watch something else. It's not a James Bond movie, even though the title may seem like one.

I did enjoy looking up the boys in the cast and I found myself, once again, smitten by Japanese men.
I drool to shirtless photos! :) HAHA
excuse my indolence. I don't like being unemployed. :)
I shall make a follow-up of all the movies i've seen in the past 2 months and not keep you in the dark.
I'll try my best to make my future reviews good and updated.

The Roommate

April 22, 2011

My friend and I had another movie date, The Roommate, it's one of those thriller chick flicks that make teenage girls, like us (ahem...), end up calling each other names from the movie. HAHA. The plot is entertaining enough for veiwers to keep their eyes on the screen for the whole movie, but for some people, it may seem a little cliche, but it works for me.

It's a bit bloody, but it didn't totally gross me out, i did catch myself wincing while staring at the screen. I found myself quite confused with the actresses though, Rebecca and Sara looked alike maaan! :) haha pretty pretty girls. I'm going on a diet, for real this time. HAHA

Month-Long Delay

I missed my dear blog. I haven't made movie reviews for quite sometime. (2 weeks!)
Well, here goes another post, a random outburst of my rantings. A lot has happened in my 2-week leave. In case you're wondering, I stopped alcoholic beverages (which i don't always do, btw.), i haven't eaten rice (for a little over a month.), and i've been crushing on this boy! :) Okay, i know you don't really care, but life's been great fun.
Another justificiation to why i stopped posting is my undeniable problem with my internet connection. If you've noticed, my facebook profile is not as up-to-date as it used to. There's nothing wrong about it. I'm on a diet... on everything. Except for one particular boy. HAHA
I'll post my movie reviews as soon as the internet connection in my room is fixed and stable. I don't want to stress myself with the connectivity.

Lots of love,
I've missed you dear http://happylovefool.blogspot.com.

I Am Legend [2007]

You may think that there has been an endless stream of zombie movies release to the public lately. You're actually right. It's not unusual that this phenomenon has become quite fad. It's probably because of Plants vs Zombies (lol, kidding.) Haha.

So here's the plot for I Am Legend. The last man on New York City, is a doctor (Dr. Neville: Will Smith), he and Sam, his pet dog, survives the plague that kills everyone else. For a few years, he covered New York city, studying the infected, looking for a cure. In the final minutes of his life, he discovers the cure and hands it over to 2 acquaintances and blew himself and the zombie horde that took over his lab. The other 2 survivors bring the cure to an oasis near the city and shares the cure that Dr. Neville had discovered. After so, he became a legend to the other survivors.

I give it 3.5 Stars. Because it was too tragic. The story could've been shorter because the cure was right in front of him. and it has a low rating because his dog died. I hate stories like that. haha
P.S. Will Smith is truly an amazing actor. Definitely talented and one-of-a-kind.

A Cinderella Story [2004]

Alright, i'll be honest. I've never cried so hard this year until i watched A Cinderella Story (January 28, 2011). I watched Sleeping Beauty and Basic Instinct 2 the same day too.

A Cinderella Story is one of the sappiest tearjerker movies i've seen this year. I was sobbing like a kid when i did. It's like that feeling you used to have when the world was innocent and all you cared about was your prince charming. One that'd come and sweep you off your feet. I love how it embraces the characters well enough to become realistically clichéd. I'm not actually a fan of cheesy movies but this is one of the few. I was entertained the whole time, and i enjoyed how their loved story progressed. Very sweet and charming.

Oh yeah, i don't want to miss out on Chad Michael Murray's sexy physique! I'll be honest here, i'm not a fan of Hillary Duff (may it be her acting or her whole persona, but she was actually pretty good in the movie.). Okay, back to Chad Michael Murray, he was totally charming and i loved how his character was the romantic type that showed his true colors to the girl-next-door. He actually reminded my of the boys i used to crush on. Er, let's just say he reminds me of how i used to easily fall in love with boys that notices ordinary girls and gives their emotions unfailingly. And they're playboy persona is complimented with a warm-hearted personality. Totally lovable.

P.S. Watch their kissing scene in the last part and watch CAREFULLY. I think Chad Michael Murray tongued Ms. Duff. I was totally jealous. haha Oh well. I cried like baby so i'm giving this tearjerker 5 STARS!

Basic Instinct 2 [2006]

Catherine Tramell is a fixated novelist that breathes life to her stories. She surrounds herself with the characters she envisions and when her tragic tale ends, the lives of the characters are terminated as well. She psychologically harasses the people around her sexually, mentally and physically, that they bring out instinctual reactions that would lead her to creating another part of her novel. When the climax (pardon the pun.) is reached, death is brought menacingly and erotically, (yes, this is an erotica film.)

Just like Basic Instinct [1992], Tramell (Stone) seduces a man related to her case and works her way towards unleashing his basic instinct: sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. (haha)

The plot is similar to a psycho-thriller but more dramatic and less psycho. it's a perfect blend of themes and it gets you on the edge. Sharon Stone is one hell of an actress and i've come conclude that after 3 movies (which i've seen: Sliver, Basic Instinct, and Basic Instinct 2), Sharon Stone is an amazing erotica actress. They're not kinky but they're sexy as hell.

If you're having a sleep over with your clique. This is a must-watch. Boys will gawk endlessly over all the sexy, naked parts and the girls will probably be agitated most times but it'll be all great fun. I give it 5-stars.

Sleeping Beauty [1959]

Another priceless Disney film. Sleeping Beauty is an epic film which shouldn't be taken lightly, if you're a Disney fan, make sure that your collection includes SB. :) It's not unusual that the soundtrack is quite ancient, but truly amazing. The songs are beautifully sung and the lyrics are totally meaningful.

Here's Aurora (Briar Rose) and Prince Philip singing my favorite song: ONCE UPON A DREAM.

The thing i love most with Disney movies is because it reminds me of how i used to dwell on the thought that fairytales do come true. I was born to live up to my namesake. Fairy tales make up most of my day dreams. haha. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

One of the best Classic Disney posters i've ever seen this year, don't you think so? Oh well, here goes to Disney for making one of the best films ever made. This classic tale is healthy for your heart. Makes you believe in love at first sight. Do you remember that feeling when you used to think that there's someone special for you waiting at the end of the road? Every perfect story leads back to these classics. God, I can't stop yammering about it. It's not a tear-jerker, but it's worth it.

Hercules [1997]

Disney's Hercules [1997]

The film adaptation of Hercules' story was erroneous in his parentage. Hercules was born of a mortal mother. Oh well, leave it to Disney to alter his ancestry because it's MORAL that way. Haha.

Disney's Hercules was entertaining and adorable. You can never go wrong with a Disney production, it may be passé as you grow older but the morals of the story is established. If you feel like giving yourself time off from all the shallow movies that's being aired on television and advertised in cinemas, go back to the basics, where movie makers derive their remakes from.

Favorite line: "People do crazy things when they're in love."

If you're young at heart, spend an a couple of hours on this movie, it's worth it. I give it 5-stars.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice [2010]

The Sorcerer's Apprentice [2010]

If you're expecting a magical film, then go watch Harry Potter. Sadly, The Sorcerer's Apprentice [2010] didn't stir the child in me. The plot was a cliché of all the modern tales, magical related where the main characters are apprentices of famous and powerful wizards. ho-hum. Need i say more?

Nicholas Cage, wow. Er... Yeah... He's wizard. Aaaand, we he was desperately trying to be funny thr whole time. Don't expect to laugh at his jokes though, they're really not funny. Jay Baruchel, this was his biggest role yet and he was better than i expected, he was hilarious, cute and nerdy, just the way i like. Physically though, don't expect to fall in love with his character, he doesn't get any cuter. haha.

I'm quite mean. I'm just not a big fan of the movie. But since it's produced by Disney, my review is quite biased. I give it 4-stars. Great CGI, props, costume design, arrangement, cinematography, etc. Take a breather, watch it.

The Da Vinci Code [2006]

It's not surprising that I've come to love, not only the book, but the movie as well. Apparently, The Da Vinci Code is fiction, or so they say. But many people have come to conclude that most of the 'facts' weren't as factual as we were expected to believe. But to believe that there is a big mystery to our whole existence feels baffling... somehow.

The so-called malicious attack on Jesus Christ and the Church is, for me, unbelievably false. I mean, if I were a faithful Christian and believed in the utmost verity of the facts presented to me by the bible, then my unwavering faith would do me justice and not care about the book (which is presented to masses as fiction). The supposed cover-up, if it weren't true in the first place, what is there to cover-up? Oh god, (pardon the pun), but the Da Vinci Code was wonderfully written and one of the best stories ever written.
The movie, on the other hand, was wonderfully written and it brought to life, the characters and the symbols purported by the brilliant author. What's interesting is the vivid portrayal of the silas and the gruesome self-torture that he applied on himself.

Why is the church attempting to cover-up the story/book/movie?
It claimed that Jesus Christ had a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene, the professed adulterer of the bible stories. The basis of the Christian faith was derived from Constantine, pagan rituals and such. The revered mother of the Church should have been Mary Magdalene despite her immoral image (in the Bible Stories) and finally because if everything stated above was true, then paganism, witchcraft, and other insignificant beliefs are more realistic than Christianism itself.

Test your faith. Take a time off and read the book or watch the movie. :)

Memoirs of a Geisha [2005]

Watched this on January 23, 2011.

This movie made me more in love with the Japanese culture. It made me appreciate the beauty and worth of a person.

My favorite parts of the movie contain the next lines:
1. "We do not become geisha to pursue our own destiny, we become geisha because we have no choice."
2. "Can't you see? Every step I have taken, since I was that girl on the bridge, has been to bring myself closer to you."

One of the best movies, ever. Just because the story is heartwarming and it's not melodramatic. It gives people like me, great insight to the lives of the private lives of the Geishas. Although the book was fiction, the story was realistic and insightful.

What i loved more about the movie was the accent of the characters. It gave depth of character (at least for me). The movie was detailed to the littlest details. The geisha make-up was realistic, i assume they were real geisha make-up. Sayuri's progress to becoming geisha was enthralling. It goes to show that Japanese culture take entertainment seriously. From food to people, art plays a big role in the culture.

That's why i love JAPAN! ^_^

The Fat Kid Inside

The Fat Kid Inside.

Erwan Heusaff is my hot and sexy. LOL. He's totally the boy of my dreams, incarnate. He cooks and he's got that preppy look that i love! Oh Erwan, i wanna love you.

Lots of love. xoxo.

Lion King:Hakuna Matata [2005]

After i watched Lion King 2, i was hooked. I've always loved the classics, especially the ones with morales, good humor and characters that i love. It was utterly beautiful, and i don't regret staying up late for this movie.

The soundtrack for this film is 10 over 5! I love Disney music, it always brings out the kid in me. (there's nothing wrong with that, i'm sure!) If you haven't seen this film, WATCH IT! It's hilarious, light, bubbly, entertaining and just full of laughs!

Grazing in the Grass was sung by Raven Symone. This song was played throughout the credits, and this song is FTW! Her voice is simply amazing and what i wouldn't give for a voice like hers. Take a time off and listen, it's totally worth the 3 minutes.

Simba's Pride: Lion King 2 [1998]

January 22, 2011 (finished the same day with Not Another Teen Movie and Dexter)

Disney movies always affect me in many ways, one of them is that it always makes me believe in love. I always get attached and tend to always find myself singing their meaningful songs. What's amazing is that, every time I sing myself a Disney soundtrack, in that moment, I believe in love and all it's senseless sacrifice.

Lion King was definitely one of my most favorite classic Disney films. I remember having a big crush on Simba, and when I grew up, I fell in love with Matthew Broderick, after my research, I found out that Matthew Broderick was Simba's voice actor! ahh.. love. Since I grew up and Simba became a father, I diverted my attention to a much younger prey. In Lion King 2, I find myself crushing on Kovu! This is crazy, I get crushes on every talking creature that catches my fancy. haha :)

Let's listen to my most favorite song in Lion King 2. "Love Will Find A Way."
Epic song. Epic movie. 10 stars.

In a perfect world
One we've never known
We would never need to face the world alone

They can have the world
We'll create our own
I may not be brave or strong or smart
But somewhere in my secret heart

I know
Love will find a way
Anywhere I go
I'm home
If you are there beside me

Like dark turning into day
Somehow we'll come through
Now that I've found you
Love will find a way

I was so afraid
Now I realize
Love is never wrong
And so it never dies

There's a perfect world
Shining in your eyes

And if only they could feel it too
The happiness I feel with you

They'd know
Love will find a way
Anywhere we go
We're home
If we are there together

Like dark turning into day
Somehow we'll come through
Now that I've found you
Love will find a way

I know love will find a way

Not Another Teen Movie [2001]

One of the movies that really doesn't have any morals but genuinely funny. I wasn't a big fan of the casting, but Chris Evans was intensely hot. He was my favorite character and honestly speaking, I only watched the movie because Chris Evans was part of the cast!

I will rate the movie a 4 out of 5 stars. It was entertaining, and good as a starter for movie marathons. This movie was actually a compilation of movies they spoofed, I've watched a lot of movies, but i wan't totally familiar with every one of them. Still, I enjoyed the movie just fine. :)

P.S. If you don't mind sexual humor with your parents, then i guess it's safe for family movie-marathons. :)

Dexter Season 1 to 4

This is one of my most favorite series. I love the concept. A mass murder that pretends to live a normal life with a beautiful wife, amazing kids, and a nerdy job. I was hooked! I couldn't stop watching and now i'm hanging by a thread, i'm currently breezing through the net, looking for season 5, but i just have to keep my eyes in my sockets. I need the complete season, it'd be soooo frustrating if i didn't finish a season!

Michael Hall (Dexter), physically, he's my type, but gosh. Every episode, i try to fall in love with him, but there's just no connection between us! I usually fall in love with a certain actor after a movie, an episode or something, but gosh, Michael Hall didn't impress me much.

The Perfect Trip. The Perfect Trap.

The Tourist [2010]. January 21, 2011.

I expected a lot of action, since i wasnt able to see the trailer before I watched it. I had loved the movie even before I saw it. I loved the major twist of the movie but the whole film was quite dragging. There wasn't much action, and it sure wasn't the usual Jolie spy film that gets you on the edge. The only thing that kept me glued to the screen was Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Her accent was amazing and i was wishing, the whole time, that Johnny Depp would do an English accent, in the end, he did. for less than a minute! God. Hahaha.

Waiting Outside the Lines (Greyson Chance)

One of the best songs of January 2011. Well, I think it was release in 2011 (haha). For a change, Greyson Chance is one of the young artists that have powerfully good vocals. He sings from his soul, at least it sounds that way and btw, he's got RAW talent. He may look gay, but he's just really young. (oh gosh, let's hope he's not.) Take your time watching this video. ^_^

P.S.: PAUSE MY LITTLE IPOD ON THE SIDE WHEN YOU START LOADING THIS VIDEO.

You’ll never enjoy your life,
living inside the box
You’re so afraid of taking chances,
how you gonna reach the top?

Rules and regulations,
force you to play it safe
Get rid of all the hesitation,
it’s time for you to seize the day

Instead of just sitting around
and looking down on tomorrow
You gotta let your feet off the ground,
the time is now

I’m waiting, waiting, just waiting,
I’m waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

Try to have no regrets
even if it’s just tonight
How you gonna walk ahead
if you keep living behind

Stuck in my same position,
you deserve so much more
There’s a whole world around us,
just waiting to be explored

Instead of just sitting around
and looking down on tomorrow
You gotta let your feet off the ground,
the time is now, just let it go

The world will force you to smile
I’m here to help you notice the rainbow
Cause I know,
What’s in you is out there

I’m waiting, waiting, just waiting,
I’m waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

I’m trying to be patient (I’m trying to be patient)
the first step is the hardest (the hardest)
I know you can make it,
go ahead and take it

I’m Waiting, waiting, just waiting I’m waiting
I’m waiting, waiting, just waiting
I’m waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

You’ll never enjoy your life
Living inside the box
You’re so afraid of taking chances,
How you gonna reach the top?

For love, for TROY.

Can you imagine muscle-bound men with epic faces like Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom. The sexy British accent, Grecian royalty and immense passion. Brad Pitt was Achilles in this bipoic film and he was gorgeous. It was a really long film but every minute was well worth it. The cinematics were great, the costume design was realistic and the talents were talented indeed.

I realized that Brad Pitt is one of the sexiest men in the world. Eric Bana is the perfect kind of furry and Orlando Bloom is the ideal little brother, given that he was the cute facade that just makes you want to have him around every time. What is it with men with British accents? Gosh. It's always a turn on.

On a scale of 1 to 5, TROY is a 5. If you want to learn a lot, historically, mythically, or however, Troy is great film. A must-watch if you want to know more about Trojan Royalty, love, passion and about the Face that launched a thousand ships. Woah. Nerd mode.

Flesh seduces. Passion kills. Feed your BASIC INSTINCT.

My first Sharon Stone film was Sliver, and this was just as sexy. It's pretty interesting but the mystery was solved 5 minutes into the film and in the last few minutes they get you all confused and make you think you were right the first time.

The story goes deeper than a serial killer on the loose, it's about knowing who to trust and when to fall prey to sexy vixens like Sharon Stone. Gosh, Ms. Stone has great movie roles.

I therefore conclude Sharon Stone is the Queen of erotica films. haha. Btw, Michael Douglas is a very versatile actor, he looks good in a suit. Gosh, here I go again, drooling over older men. haha.

There is no turning back. Welcome to SILENT HILL.

One of the most twisting and riveting thriller that I've ever seen. I was baffled by whole experience. I couldn't have found a much better thriller to watch with my dear friend, B. haha. The concept was cliche but not entirely, one would assume that it was a zombie thriller but it's really not. I concluded the movie to have been a psycho-thriller. The drama was consistent throughout the film, and I was actually left literally slack-jawed when it ended. Claiming that I've noticed it all along. It was a stunner and undeniably an excellent film.

To game enthusiasts, however, i'm not quite sure if it's a good game interpretation, but from what i've heard, This movie was approved by Konami, so i'm assuming it's good enough.

Hey, I like it! Keep an open mind when watching this film. It actually makes you think.

Signs

Signs, another sci-fi thriller that correlates faith and the extraterrestrial. I don't like the movie. I expected more from M. Night Shyamalan (The Last Airbender, The Sixth Sense, etc.).

Mel Gibson was exceedingly transparent in his role of being a pastor raising his two children after losing his wife, exceptionally funny in a few parts. Joaquin Phoenix was stunningly cute and i loved his role. His good, bad-boy image was very familiar, it seemed like i was watching Ed Westwick in ruffler clothes and in a meaner stature. I kept believing that McCaulay Culkin (Richie Rich) was in the film, his brother, Rory Culkin, has the same cherry red lips that trademarked M. Culkin! Abigail Breslin was very young in this film, which signifies her immense talent in acting. At a very young age she was able to send out a perfectly different character. Another great potential to the pool of talents that would soon fill the screens. Let's hope she doesn't become another Lohan.

My First Full-Length 3D Movie

Cheers to my first full-length 3D movie. Surprisingly, my first 3D experience wasn't that mind-blowing. My glasses were relentlessly askew and i had to put the 3D shades over my glasses again and again, else, i wouldn't be able to see anything but hazy shades that i can never make out.

SM shaker seats, don't shake, FYI. Out of 10, i'd rate my first time a 6. The movie was funny, witty, entertaining and 3D but it just wasn't something i'd watch again and again. My mom had a blast though, i think it was her first time too. Mydear, on the other hand, fell asleep (for a minute or two, i kept nudging him awake.) haha.

Jack Black=Genius. haha. Emily Blunt (Michael Buble's wife) was awkwardly great in this movie. Her British accent seemed fake, which made it even more funny (because she is really British!) haha. Jason Segel, (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) was dim-wittingly funny!

The movie was amazing but it's 3D-ness wasn't a wowser. I hope my next 3D film is a blockbuster. P250 is too much for a movie and free popcorn. (i'm such a twat!)

Happy Birthday Mydear. :) I love you and mama.

45th Year of Wilann Blue

It's January 16, 2011 and it's my dad's (mydear's) birthday.

The whole day was spent in family bonding time.

  • We went to church.
  • Breakfast at McDonald's (rap: black coffee, mama: McMuffin, mydear: big breakfast and coffee)
  • SM (The Body Shop)
  • Limketkai (Shabu-Shabu for lunch)
  • Went home to feed Jakko and Doobie
  • Went back to SM for Gulliver's Travel
  • Had dinner at Tita Fannies
  • Watched 2210: The Collapse with Mydear

Nothing extraordinary about the day, but it sure felt great. I love my family, and i can't imagine being away from them for more than a month. Gosh.

Mydear, happy birthday. I'm lucky to have you as my dad and there's no one else better fit for the job of being my friend, mentor, father, brother and role model. You're the best and i love having you by my side. I love you and mama so much.

White Collar Fever

I'm on my last episode of the not-so famous TV series, White Collar. Just last night, I discovered that Matt Bomer, the guy who plays the suave con artist who works as a consultant in the FBI, is gay. Yes, it’s terrible news. I’m quite befuddled and I feel betrayed by the network. I believe it’s a sin when they parade good-looking men on TV and not inform the public that that debonair and flawless physique is not for women? Gosh. I even Googled Matt Bomer and found a picture of him kissing a guy, torridly. Overall, I loved the series and I’m definitely waiting for White Collar, Season 2 to come out in torrent. For now, Dexter, Season 3 is on my list.

Hmmm... on second thought, let me suppress the memory of ever finding out that Mr. Perfect Bomer is of the third sex. If, for one second, I falter in my decision, I shall remind myself that perfect skin, blue eyes, newly razored facial hair, and god-like physique, is worth drooling over. So there.

xoxo lots of love.

Electric Body Shots

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist [2008] by Peter Sollett.

This 2008 film was something with a contemporary gist which i totally loved. It gave new meaning to the modern flair of falling in love. The choice of cast was wonderful. Michael Cera played Nick beautifully which everyone expects to be 'au naturel'. He's perfectly awkward. His virginal ways makes him completely lovable. Every scene that intensifies their blooming relationship would give everyone such nice, warm kind of thrill.

The original soundtrack for the movie was brilliant. it fit the whole Nick and Norah mood. It wasn't the melodramatic kind, nor was it the sappy kind, it was just right. The whole ensemble created this reachable, clear-cut vindication for their totally innocent fun rendezvous.

The plot wasn't predictable and the whole concept was certainly a healthy kind of movie dosage. one that doesn't dull your brain, and one that doesn't fry it up with too much information. the wit and message was just right.

Just like electric body shots.

P.S. I just think the blog title is the shiz. it's actually my fault, i misread Norah's Dad's studio named ELECTRIC LADY STUDIOS. i typed it as ELECTRIC BODY SHOTS. can you blame me? gosh. i'm pathetic. haha

xoxo. lots of love.
